The dental hygiene coordinator manages the hygiene department's administrative and patient-facing tasks, including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, maintaining patient records, and handling payments. They act as a liaison between patients and the dental team, ensuring the schedule is optimized, patients are informed, and the office runs smoothly.

Key responsibilities

Patient scheduling and coordination: Manage the hygiene schedule, confirm appointments, and follow up with patients to ensure full scheduling and timely check-ups.
Administrative duties: Handle patient check-in/check-out, answer phones, update patient medical and insurance records, and manage patient accounts.
Insurance and billing: Verify patient insurance coverage, explain benefits, and assist with processing claims and collecting payments.
Patient communication: Greet patients, answer questions about procedures, and provide information on treatment plans and aftercare.
Record keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient charts, including treatment history, insurance information, and contact points.
Office support: Collaborate with the dental hygienists and other staff to ensure a smooth workflow and help maintain the cleanliness and readiness of treatment rooms.

Qualifications

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
Experience: Previous administrative experience, particularly in a dental or clinical setting, is often preferred.
Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills are essential. Familiarity with dental software, data entry, and basic accounting is beneficial.

Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
