Billing Assistant Role:

This position is filled by a goal-oriented, and self-motivated professional. The Billing Assistant position is one that will focus on supporting Billing Specialists while growing in their individual abilities with a long-term goal of internal growth and advancement.

Billing Assistant Responsibilities

but not limited to:

Supporting the Billing Specialists through delegated tasks to ensure the client is supported at 100%.
Consistently follow up on unpaid claims utilizing monthly aging reports, filing appeals when appropriate to obtain maximum reimbursement, and establishing and maintaining strong relationships with providers, clients, patients, and fellow staff.
Follows DDS standard operating procedures and guidelines for provided services, including but not limited, insurance AR, patient AR, and insurance verification.
Data entry of all patient demographic and insurance information, posting procedures and insurance/patient payments, balance to daily deposits.
Meeting deadlines - Daily, Weekly, and Monthly.
Respond to inquiries from insurance companies.
Respond to client inquiries made in the client management system.
Regularly meet with Billing Specialists to discuss and resolve reimbursement issues or billing obstacles.
Regularly attend staff meetings.
Perform additional duties as requested by the Billing Specialists or Management team.
Assist with denials (calling insurance, correcting coding, gathering documentation, etc.)
Assist with collecting past due balances on accounts.
Investigate patient inquiries and research billing questions for Billing Specialists.
Complete special projects for Billing Specialists or Managers as needed.
Any other tasks delegated by the billing specialist or management team.

REQUIRED SKILLS

A minimum of two years relevant work experience in the dental field.
Experience with Dental specific software including but not limited to: Dentrix, Open Dental, Eaglesoft, etc.
Basic computer experience and knowledge is essential.
Experience in CDT coding; familiarity with dental terminology and procedures.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience in filing claim appeals with insurance companies to ensure maximum reimbursement.
Pleasant speaking voice and demeanor; positive attitude.
Perform to company standards of compliance with policies and procedures.
Ability to multitask and work courteously and respectfully with fellow employees, clients and patients.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

High School diploma or equivalent.
