The front desk person will receive the patients and handle billing issues, then the hygienist will explain and perform the proposed treatments.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: the following list of duties are illustrative of core functions for the position, but are not intended to be absolute.
Hospitality: greeting patients in a friendly manner and making the patient feel at ease with a caring attitude; with confidence and poise communicating their upcoming treatment to confirm their expectations. Must possess good communication skills.
Treatment: perform dental cleaning and polishing procedures, assess the patients oral health, document findings and treatment plans, consult with the doctor when needed, and educate the patients about oral hygiene techniques.
Patient Charts: complete all appropriate documentation, including preventive, restorative, and proposed treatment; listening and accuracy are essential. Schedule future appointments.
Equipment: Help keep the clinical and sterilization areas clean and in orderly condition. Perform treatments by using hand, power, and ultrasonic tools.
Administrative Duties: review all patient health records, previous chart notes, pending treatment, and patient concerns. Assist the doctor and other staff members in other tasks when not occupied in core responsibilities. We strive to operate as a team to accomplish all work in a friendly and cooperative manner.

Knowledge and Skills:
- Perform your tasks with genuine care and compassion for our patients.
- Ability to make inquiry and understand the patient's needs.
- Knowledge on the use of SoftDent dental software, or similar capability.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Desire and aptitude to expand ability and knowledge in our dental field.
Education and Experience: high school diploma and completion of accredited hygienist curriculum with valid Colorado state license, and minimum of 1 year of working experience as a hygienist.
Physical Demands: this is a moderately physically demanding position; the following are several of the typical efforts required. 1) use of hands and arms in the performance of assigned procedures, and 2) occasionally climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and handle instruments.
Equipment Used: 1) dental instruments, 2) ultrasonic scalars, 3) sterilization equipment, 4) computers, and 5) telecommunication equipment.
