Dental Assistant Job Advertisement
Homer Dental Center is looking for a competent and energetic dental assistant to join our team! We are a Kois-trained, patient-centered, dental-wellness-focused practice in the heart of Homer, Alaska. At Homer Dental Center, we pride ourselves in adopting the most up-to-date treatment protocols and technologies to provide the best patient outcomes possible. We have 2D radiographs, 3D CBCT, iTero digital scanner, Primescan digital scanner, digital design and treatment planning software, and 3D printing capabilities.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting our dentist and hygienists, ensuring efficiency in our day-to-day workflows, and providing our patients with exceptional dental care. This role requires a dedication to professionalism, team work, attention to detail, and overall excellence in day-to-day activities. The assistant is expected to be skilled in providing direct and indirect patient care.

Responsibilities include:
- Perform quality and diagnostic imaging such as intraoral photos, 3D scans, 2D radiographs, and 3D CBCT's.
- Utilize dental software (Open Dental, DTX) to maintain accurate dental records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with note-taking and documentation
- Review patients' medical history, dental history, and vital signs.
- Prepare patients for treatment and exams
- Set up instruments, equipment, and materials as needed
- Meticulous understanding of sterilization procedures and protocols
- Perform 4-handed dentistry
- Complete lab tasks as instructed
- Provide oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions
- Keep dental operatories disinfected and well-stocked
- Call patients and schedule appointments as needed
- Assist with collateral duties and cross-training
Requirements:
- Prior experience as a dental assistant is preferred, but not required
- Ability to learn quickly
- Willingness to engage in self-directed learning
- Excellent computer skills
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work effectively with patients of all ages, including children.
- Attention to detail
- Well-organized and reliable
- Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team
- High school diploma
- Additional certification, training, and/or experience is an asset

Pay: $18.00 - $30.00 per hour
