The dental practice of Dr. Timothy Joseph, Dr. Luke Berson, and close-knit team is eager to add another eager, people-person with an interest in healthcare to their group. One of our talented assistants (that we trained years ago) is ready to help train her replacement so she can pursue some personal goals. Therefore, we are in need another staff member to train as a “Dental Assistant” to help support our busy patient schedule. If your career goals include working with your hands, cultivating meaningful long-term relationships and applying your exemplary attention to detail and communication skills to make a positive impact on patients, you are likely reading your most favorite career position ever!
Who can apply? If you have a bachelor’s degree (or, core classes) in a “science or people” focused major, surgical tech or medical assistant experience… please, apply! We also values candidates with steady track records in restaurant, retail, or general business who possess an eager interest to direct their career into healthcare. If you have prior training or experience in dentistry, a stable work history, and excellent references, you are welcomed to apply.
Can you imagine yourself working as a dental assistant? Common tasks include:
- Greeting and seating patients; conversing and creating meaningful relationships with patients
- Assisting Dr. Berson during treatment: suctioning, passing instruments and materials
- Educating patients about treatment, post-operative, and preventive care
- Provide expanded duty dental services as governed by the SC Board of Dentistry, including taking X-Rays, Scans, and making dental impressions
- Participating in continuing education programs
- Managing dental instruments, setting up and breaking down rooms for procedures
Do you match the criteria we are seeking?
- Customer service skills: Easily expresses empathy and models high and traditional standards of professionalism
- Preference to work in a true team setting
- Excellent hand-eye coordination: can you thread a needle, manipulate small items with your hands, at ease with arts and crafts?
- Passionate desire to work in the healthcare field and help others
- Interest in dental anatomy and biology: Must like teeth!
- Excellent references: Stable, Reliable, Dependable
- Able-bodied to comfortably and frequently maneuver a fast-paced working environment; if you consciously do NOT want a desk job, you are geared like a dental assistant.
- Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or completion of foundation-building courses in college are preferred. Surgical techs, vet techs, medical assistants, pharmacy technicians or related professionals often find their rewarding, permanent career positions in dentistry.

This full-time position is FOUR DAYS PER WEEK, Monday – Thursday, 8 – 5. Every Friday is off. No evenings, no weekends!
