Dental Receptionist
Sterling Area Health Center
Qualifications: High school diploma. Two years’ experience working in an office setting is preferred. (preference to candidates with dental reception/billing experience).
Essential Functions: To ensure the smooth operation of the dental business office as receptionist and secretary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Answers the telephone and greets patients with a smile while maintaining a professional attitude.
- Registers new, routine, and emergency patients. Makes new charts when necessary.
- Works with the office computer system entering patients for check-in, checks insurance.
- Scans dental patients’ electronic chart.
- Collects patient co-pays and balances, enters payments, and verifies charges and adjustments.
- Schedules follow-up appointments.
- Confirms appointments and prepares patient charts for the next day.
- Sorts mail and maintains a safe and organized work area while performing other secretarial duties assigned by Supervisor.
· Acts in accordance with laws and procedures governing confidentiality, release of information, consent etc.
Skills and Abilities:
· Must be computer proficient.
· Communicates in writing and orally, in person and through electronic means with proficiency and able to effectively explain complex and technical information to others.
· Demonstrate HIPAA confidentiality and privacy at work and off duty.
· Demonstrates customer focused interpersonal skills to interact in an effective manner with patients, practitioners, and families with diverse options, values, and religious and cultural ideals.
· Demonstrates ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, fluid, dynamic, and rapidly developing environment.
· Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively as an effective part of a Team Based Health Care organization as well as independently and be directly accountable for practice.
· Demonstrates time management, listening skills, problem solving, priority setting, and work organization.
