PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Dental Manager is responsible for overseeing day to day departmental operations, maintains responsibility for efficient departmental functionality, and acts as an intermediary between administration and departmental staff. The Manager implements and communicates improvement processes into departmental teams.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES
- Oversee departmental operations at multiple clinic locations.
- Manage staffing resources; responsible for staff work schedules and timecards.
- Manage departmental ordering and inventory tracking.
- Lead appropriate meetings, committees, work groups, and etc. as needed.
- Responsible for recruitment, selection of departmental staff, and continual training and development of teams through coaching and feedback. Conduct, oversee, and support annual team evaluations.
- Drive quality improvement efforts through data reporting, analysis and evaluation, presentations of findings, and recommendations for interventions and improvement. Collaborate with Director of Operations on quality improvement initiatives and department optimization, ensure departmental compliance, and implement lean management principles.
- Respond to and investigate complaints and concerns and communicates identified issues to appropriate staff. Work collaboratively with organizational leadership to resolve conflicts within and between departments. Ensure that space and equipment are functional and utilized appropriately
- Complete special projects as determined by Director of Operations and COO, and perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in nursing, business management, healthcare management, social work or related field.
Minimum Work Experience: Minimum 3 years in a dental practice with increasing management experience, preferably an FQHC. Two years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred. Proficient in Excel and in dental inventory management.

Qualifications:
Successful applicants must be adept at planning and organization to prioritize activities and meet deadlines. Candidates should be able to monitor team efficiencies and analyze situations that require swift action. Successful candidates will be able to implement action plans for process improvement, communicate effectively both orally and in writing to a varied audience; in particular the ability to develop clear written instructions for staff of varied educational backgrounds. Skill in policy and process development. Preference will be given to candidate with previous dental office leadership experience.
ACCOUNTABILITY
Accountable to the Director of Clinical Support Services and responsible for keeping the COO, CEO, and Clinical Directors informed of operational items.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Departmental Team Leaders and departmental staff.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Frequent travel between clinics; some long-distance travel for conferences, etc.
SALARY
Starting at $56,250, based on experience
WORK HOURS
40+ hours per week (exempt from wage and hour laws; irregular schedule)
