The clinical technician assists the doctor with patient care. Their responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, seating and dismissing patients, taking digital/physical impressions, removing and placing arch wires, fitting and seating bands, fitting and seating of appliances, prepping teeth for bonding procedure, following instructions of the clinical lead (coordinator), reviewing patient care instructions, updating parents regarding patient treatment, and running of your chair column in an efficient and timely matter.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Technician is responsible for assisting the orthodontist in clinical treatment of patients. The Technician is also responsible for the cleanliness of the clinical area, sterilization of instruments and stocking all the clinical supplies. As well as regularly cleaning and maintaining the equipment.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Good interpersonal skills to develop an effective relationship with patients, parents, doctors, and team members.
- Effective verbal skills to communicate with and educate patients and parents to treatment.
RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):
- Cleaning and preparation of units/chairs before/after each patient.
- Greet and seat patients, never leaving a seated patient unattended.
- Anticipate and assist the orthodontist’s needs at all times.
- Charting of patient procedures to include charges (if applicable), procedure and length of time for next visit.
- Patient explanation of procedure to parent with review of progress.
•Radiographs to include panoramic, cephalometric, and CBCT
- Placement and removal of separator
- Utilizing intraoral scanner
- Checking all patient appliances prior to adjustment or wire changes • Intraoral and extraoral photographs
- Changing archwires or elastic ties
- Deliver retainers and other removable appliances
- Banding and bonding procedures
- Give patient instruction for cooperation and motivation
- Documentation of all communication and procedures in patient charts
