The Wilson County Health Department is accepting applications for a Dental Assistant. This is a full time benefits eligible position with Wilson County Government. This position is part of the team for the Wilson Area School Based Health (WASH) Dental Clinic. The WASH Dental Clinic serves enrolled students at all Wilson County public schools on a rotating schedule. Services offered include cleanings, X-rays, fluoride treatments, sealants, fillings, as well as limited emergency services. Compensation: The starting salary for a fully qualified Dental Assistant starts at $40,692 + a COMPETIVE BENEFITS PACKAGE. Hours: 8:00 am- 4:30 pm (40 hrs per week), Monday- Friday. Extended hours may be requested or required for special events and/or programmatic needs.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This position will assist the dentist in the direct provision of primary care dental services to patients at the WASH Dental Clinic. Primary Responsibilities include: Chairside assisting in fixed or community sitesPatient education, oral hygiene instructions and demonstrationsAccurate and efficient patient charting with Dentrix softwareDisinfects and sterilizes instruments, surfaces, and equipment in compliance with CDC, OSHA and agency guidelines.Coronal Polishing Certificate xrayThis position will involve physical activity to load and unload dental equipment in to facilities in the community. Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to maintain records, inventories, and patient histories. Ability to deal tactfully with patients. Ability to orient other health care personnel and patients.All expanded functions of a dental NC dental assistant.CPR Certified
