Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Hygienist to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care, perform thorough dental cleanings, and support the overall health and well-being of our patients. This role requires a strong understanding of dental procedures, excellent communication skills, and adherence to infection control protocols. Experience with EMR systems and familiarity with pediatric dentistry are highly valued.
Duties
- Perform dental prophylaxis, scaling, and root planing to maintain oral health.
- Conduct patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history review.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and treatment plans.
- Assist with chairside procedures, including four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while ensuring proper infection control procedures.
- Review and document medical records accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support the dental team with documentation review, medical coding, and maintaining accurate records.
- Ensure aseptic techniques are followed to prevent infection and maintain a sterile environment.
- Collaborate with dentists on patient care plans, especially in pediatric dentistry cases.
- Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and general dentistry procedures to provide comprehensive care.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental software such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, and documentation review.
- Experience in pediatric dentistry, including working with children and their specific needs.
- Skilled in chairside assisting, infection control, and aseptic technique.
- Knowledge of vital signs monitoring, medical imaging, and patient assessment techniques.
- Familiarity with EMR systems and medical coding processes for accurate billing and documentation.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages while demonstrating compassion and professionalism.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality are maintained at all times.
