Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Hygienist to join our reputable dental practice. Part Time. Bilingual. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care, performing dental cleanings, and assisting with various clinical procedures. This role requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, infection control protocols, and patient assessment techniques. Experience with EMR systems and dental office software such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix is preferred. The Dental Hygienist will play a vital role in maintaining the health and comfort of our patients while ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards, including HIPAA.
Duties
- Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning teeth and removing plaque and tartar using ultrasonic scalers and hand instruments
- Take and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration before procedures
- Assist with medical imaging procedures like X-rays while maintaining proper aseptic technique
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care
- Review medical records and documentation to ensure accurate patient histories and treatment plans
- Assist the dentist during various procedures, including pediatric dentistry, general dentistry, and chairside assisting
- Maintain infection control standards in accordance with OSHA guidelines
- Manage patient records accurately using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness before finalizing patient charts
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality
Requirements
- Valid Dental Hygienist license in the state of practice
- Part time.
- Bilingual - English - Spanish.
- Proven experience in dental office settings, including general dentistry.
- Proficiency with Dentrix.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and medical coding practices
- Ability to perform four-handed dentistry efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, vital signs monitoring, and medical imaging techniques
- Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach to pediatric and adult patients
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment involving dental assisting staff
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques and infection control standards in a clinical setting
