This role goes far beyond cleanings. You are accountable for helping patients understand how their oral health impacts their overall health, identifying existing and potential concerns, and empowering patients to make informed decisions about their care.By uncovering each patient’s Personal Motivators, you help create value, increase understanding, and drive meaningful treatment acceptance.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical & Hygiene Responsibilities
- Understand and uphold what constitutes a “Healthy Mouth” and evaluate each patient using the Healthy Mouth Baseline
- Update medical histories, record blood pressure, and identify new or changed health conditions
- Perform comprehensive periodontal evaluations, including probing depths, bleeding points, recession, mobility, and furcation
- Chart and communicate any progress or decline in periodontal health
- Identify failing restorations, decay, and open contacts
- Utilize the intraoral camera on every patient to visually educate patients about their oral health
- Perform oral prophylaxis and periodontal therapy per Standards of Care
- Provide thorough, personalized home care education
- Discuss unscheduled treatment using visual tools and verbal communication to educate and motivate patients
Patient Education & Communication
- Uncover and document each patient’s Personal Motivators
- Educate patients on current oral health conditions, potential consequences if untreated, and likely next steps the Doctor may recommend
- Address patient questions or concerns and notify the appropriate team member when needed (e.g., Treatment Coordinator)
- Communicate clearly with the Doctor prior to exams, including periodontal score, services completed, unfinished treatment, recall interval, and relevant medical or personal concerns
Scheduling & Continuity of Care
- Schedule continuing care appointments
- Emphasize the importance of ongoing preventive and periodontal care
- Reinforce recommended recall intervals to support long-term oral and systemic health
Performance Expectations
- Meet daily hygiene production goals
- Consistently use the intraoral camera to support patient education and documentation
- Follow Standards of Care when identifying and recommending treatment
- Use the Healthy Mouth Baseline to monitor outcomes and improvements
- Assist in identifying treatment needs and tracking patient progress

Pay: $45.00 - $50.00 per hour
