Purpose:
To provide direct dental treatment to patients and educate patients about their dental needs.
Essential Functions:
- Examining and diagnosing patient’s dental needs.
- Creating, explaining and implementing treatment plans.
- Provide appropriate treatment to patients.
- Developing rapport and relationships with patients.
- Working in partnership with the COO, CFO, Owner, Dental Assistant, Patient Care Manager, Insurance Coordinator and all company team members.
- Recording and charting the results of the exam and treatment.
- Educating patients on treatment and home care.
- Representing the practice in a professional manner, focusing on the needs of the patients.
- Working respectfully and cooperatively with management, co-workers, patients, vendors and the public.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, State, Federal and other regulatory laws.
- Handling any other duties as assigned.
- Follow HSDC 10 steps of good clinical treatment and procedures.
Objectives:
- To provide a thorough examination and appropriate dental treatment.
- To build relationships with patients and create a feeling of trust in the dentist's skills.
- To provide efficient and effective treatment to patients.
- To provide quality treatment in a safe manner.
- To assure the needs of the patients are met and are primary.
- To actively market the practice.
- To represent the practice in a professional, friendly and caring manner.
Measured By:
- The review of the treatment and treatment plans.
- The timely and efficient completion of procedures.
- The retention of patients.
- The referral of new patients from present patients.
- The examination and assessment of dental knowledge.
- Review by Owner, COO, CFO and Patient Care Manager.
- Feedback from patients, co-workers, associates and the public.
Minimum Education:
- Doctor of Dentistry (DDS or DMD) from an accredited dental school.
- Specializing degrees and/or certifications when applicable.
- Active license to practice dentistry in the state of Michigan.
Minimum Experience:
4 years required, including experience in molar endodontics, extractions, and implant placement.
Minimum Skills Required:
- Dental treatment services.
- Patient services.
- Communication, ability to ask appropriate questions and effectively listen and assess the patient’s needs.
- Teamwork, ability to work in partnership with supporting staff that reflects the practice in a positive manner.
- Attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Comprehensive treatment planning
- Select and set up instruments, equipment and material needed
- Sterilize instruments according to regulations
- Assist the dentist through 4-handed dentistry
- Undertake lab tasks as instructed
- Provide oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions
- Keep the dental op clean and well-stocked
- Maintain accurate patient records and assist with payment procedures
