DEFINITION: Provides professional dental care to patients at a County hospital, institution, or other health care facilities.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Performs prophylaxes and instructs patients on proper dental care.Performs dental examinations and determines appropriate dental care and treatment.Maintains clinic records and patient charts.Requests examinations, analyses, and x-rays; reviews reports, records, and progress of patients.Administers anesthetics and treats infections and diseases of the teeth, jaws, and gums.Participates in staff and scientific conferences.Accepts dental emergencies and administers post-operative treatment.Provides patients with dental appliances.
