Job Summary:
The Insurance Administrator is responsible for managing and overseeing the dental office’s insurance processes. This includes verifying insurance benefits, submitting claims, following up on unpaid claims, and ensuring that patient billing is handled efficiently and accurately. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and have excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Insurance Verification:
- Verify patients’ insurance benefits prior to appointments.
- Confirm eligibility and coverage levels with insurance providers.
- Ensure that all necessary authorizations are obtained for treatments.
- Claims Management:
- Submit insurance claims for dental procedures in a timely manner.
- Review and resolve claim denials or underpayments, submitting appeals when necessary.
- Track claims status and update patients on the status of their claims.
- Billing and Coding:
- Ensure accurate coding of dental procedures in accordance with insurance guidelines.
- Work with the dental team to ensure that services are properly documented for claims submission.
- Patient Communication:
- Provide patients with information regarding their insurance benefits, coverage, and billing details.
- Assist patients with insurance-related questions and concerns.
- Prepare insurance breakdowns and explanations of benefits (EOBs) for patients when required.
- Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient insurance files.
- Keep detailed notes on claims, correspondence, and patient discussions regarding insurance.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with the dental team (dentists, hygienists, office managers) to ensure smooth patient care and billing process.
- Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and internal team members to resolve issues promptly.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in dental insurance administration, billing, or coding
- Knowledge of dental insurance policies, procedures, and terminology.
- Familiarity with dental software and claim submission platforms (e.g., Dentrix, or similar).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information confidentially.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Desired Skills:
- Experience working with dental insurance companies and negotiating claims.
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and dental procedure codes.
- Customer service-oriented with a friendly and professional demeanor.
Compensation:
- $19-23 depending on experience.
