Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Orthodontic Dental Assistant to join our vibrant dental team. Responsibilities
- One day a week would be direct patient care as an Orthodontic Assistant. The other day would be helping to implement new patient-care computer software into the practice.
- Assist orthodontists during various procedures including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings with precision and confidence.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly.
- Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning while adhering to infection control protocols.
- Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Epic, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients on orthodontic care, appliance maintenance, oral hygiene practices, and post-treatment instructions to promote optimal results.
- Monitor vital signs and assess patient comfort throughout procedures to ensure safety and well-being.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and assisting the dental receptionist with medical documentation.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant in a clinical setting, preferably with orthodontic or pediatric dentistry experience.
- Familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, and infection control standards including aseptic technique.
- Proficiency in handling dental equipment such as 3D scanners, X-ray machines, and medical imaging tools.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting using four-handed dentistry techniques efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of anatomy relevant to dentistry and orthodontics to support accurate patient care.
