Duties
- Assist orthodontists during patient examinations, adjustments, and procedures with precision and efficiency.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental materials, and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans and other medical imaging necessary for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Manage patient records using EDR (Electronic Dental Records) systems such as TOPS Ortho, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients on orthodontic care, appliance usage, and oral hygiene practices tailored for pediatric dentistry and general dentistry needs.
- Support infection control protocols through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures to maintain a safe clinical environment.
- Collaborate with the dental team in four-handed dentistry practices to enhance efficiency during procedures.
- Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with a dental receptionist mindset, updating medical documentation, and managing medical coding for billing purposes.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, taking vital signs, and medical documentation.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control standards, and aseptic techniques.
- Experience working with EDR systems like Tops Ortho
- Ability to operate dental imaging equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners accurately.
