Take X-rays while adhering to HIPAA regulations and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety and confidentiality. Support patient care by taking vital signs, reviewing medical histories, and explaining procedures using accurate dental terminology. Manage electronic health records using EMR systems like Open Dental to document treatment details and update medical records efficiently. Coordinate with the dental reception team to schedule appointments, verify insurance information, and handle patient inquiries professionally. Maintain infection control standards by following strict protocols for sterilization, handling medical documentation, and practicing proper anatomy knowledge during chairside assisting. Assist with medical documentation including coding procedures accurately for billing purposes while ensuring compliance with HIPAA guidelines. Support the dental team with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during procedures.
Experience
Previous experience working in a dental clinic environment is highly preferred, especially within general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings. Proficiency with EMR systems like Open Dental is essential for managing patient records seamlessly. Demonstrated knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and anatomy relevant to dental assisting roles. Familiarity with X-ray procedures, medical imaging tools, and digital radiography is required to support accurate diagnostics. Understanding of HIPAA regulations and medical coding ensures compliance with privacy laws and billing standards. Experience supporting various specialties such as prosthodontics or endodontics adds value to your candidacy.
