Responsibilities

Assist orthodontists during patient examinations and procedures with precision and efficiency, including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance management.
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and maintaining an aseptic environment following infection control protocols.
Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans and medical imaging, ensuring accurate positioning and patient comfort.
Manage patient records using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft while maintaining HIPAA compliance for confidentiality.
Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices tailored for pediatric dentistry and general dentistry needs.
Support administrative duties like scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and managing medical records efficiently.
Collaborate in four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance workflow speed and comfort for both patients and staff.
Monitor vital signs when necessary and assist with medical documentation related to patient health status or treatment progress.

Skills

Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for accurate record keeping and medical coding.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques essential for safe clinical procedures.
Experience with dental assisting in pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, or general dentistry environments is highly valued.
Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging devices while adhering to safety standards.
Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients of all ages about their treatment plans and oral health maintenance.
Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure the confidentiality of medical records and documentation.
