Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency.
- Prepare treatment rooms with sterilized instruments and materials, adhering strictly to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including digital imaging, ensuring accurate medical documentation and records management.
- Manage patient vital signs, medical history updates, and medical documentation to support comprehensive care.
- Operate electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft, to document patient information accurately while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, managing dental terminology communication, and supporting the dentist throughout procedures.
- Greet patients as a friendly dental receptionist, schedule appointments, verify insurance details, and ensure a smooth flow of daily operations.
- Assist with medical coding and record keeping for insurance claims and billing processes related to dental procedures.
- Support infection control practices by following established protocols for sterilization and handling of dental equipment.
- Educate patients on oral health care routines and post-treatment instructions to promote ongoing wellness.
Skills
- Proficiency with dental software platforms such as Eaglesoft, systems for efficient record management.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical imaging techniques.
- Experience with X-ray procedures, including digital radiography and 3D scanning technology.
- Expertise in infection control standards and aseptic techniques within a busy dental clinic environment.
- Ability to perform vital signs assessment accurately and handle pediatric patients with care and professionalism.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members—including dental receptionists—and provide outstanding patient service.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
- Knowledge of specialized fields such as prosthodontics, endodontics, pediatrics, orthodontics, sleep medicine and general dentistry enhances your versatility as a Dental Assistant. Pay: $18.00 - $30.00 per hour
