Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care, assisting the dentist during procedures, and ensuring the smooth operation of the dental clinic. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, procedures, and infection control protocols. The Dental Assistant will work closely with patients, helping to create a comfortable and welcoming environment.
Duties
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Prepare and maintain dental instruments and equipment for various treatments, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Record patient medical history, vital signs, and other relevant information in electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft.
- Provide chairside assistance during various dental procedures including general dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions.
- Manage dental clinic operations including scheduling appointments and maintaining medical documentation and records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Utilize 3D scanners for imaging as needed in treatment planning.
- Collaborate effectively with the dental team to ensure optimal patient care.
Skills
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix, Open Dental, Eaglesoft, etc.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection control practices.
- Experience in chairside assisting and familiarity with pediatric dentistry is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform medical imaging and understand medical documentation processes including coding and records management.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and team members.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing clinical tasks.
- A commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards.
