Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our dental clinic. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, procedures, and the ability to assist in various dental specialties including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics. The Dental Assistant will work closely with dentists and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality dental services while adhering to strict infection control protocols.
Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available.
- Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to safety protocols.
Record patient medical histories and vital signs accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Open Dental.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and assist with the management of d records.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality.
- Support front office staff with dental receptionist duties as needed, including scheduling appointments and managing patient inquiries.
- Uphold aseptic techniques and infection control measures throughout all procedures.
Experience
- Previous experience as a Dental Assistant in a clinical setting is preferred, with familiarity in pediatric dentistry being a plus.
- Proficient knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and procedures is essential.
- Experience with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft or Open Dental is highly desirable.
- Understanding of dental coding, documentation, and record management practices is advantageous.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting effectively while maintaining a calm demeanor in fast-paced environments.
