Duties
- Assist orthodontist during procedures such as bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance installations with precision and efficiency.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment functions properly.
- Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced medical imaging technology while adhering to strict infection control protocols.
- Manage patient records accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Ortho2, ensuring confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, including appliance maintenance, oral hygiene practices, and post-treatment care.
- Support the dental reception team by scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and managing patient flow smoothly.
- Maintain a sterile environment through aseptic techniques, proper handling of dental materials, and adherence to infection control standards.
- Operate digital scanners such as 3D scanners for precise imaging and treatment planning in orthodontics.
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques with a focus on orthodontics and chairside support.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental practice.
- Infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to maintain a safe clinical environment.
- Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners accurately.
- Excellent communication skills for educating patients and collaborating with team members effectively.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times.
- Experience in pediatric dentistry is a plus, enabling compassionate care for younger patients undergoing orthodontic treatment.
