Responsibilities
- Assist orthodontists during various procedures, including bracket placements, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques to maximize efficiency.
- Prepare treatment area by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment such as 3D scanners and medical imaging devices are ready for use.
- Take and develop X-rays while maintaining strict adherence to infection control protocols and HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
- Manage patient records using EMR systems like Dolphin Management, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, including appliance maintenance and oral hygiene practices tailored for pediatric dentistry and general dentistry cases.
- Maintain a clean, organized clinic environment by following aseptic techniques and infection control standards to ensure safety for both patients and staff.
- Full time position only. Monday-Thursday, 7:40-5:00. Lunch, 12-1.
Experience
- On the job training is available.
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic environment with a focus on orthodontics or pediatric dentistry is preferred.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding enhances your ability to support clinical operations effectively.
- Familiarity with dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, vital signs measurement, medical documentation, and infection control practices is an advantage.
- Understanding of HIPAA compliance standards ensures confidentiality of patient information at all times.
