Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Patient Treatment:
θ Greet and seat patients. Take radiographs, develop, and mount, if necessary
θ Evaluate gingival health and health of all oral tissue
θ Oral cancer exam
θ Take blood pressure
θ Perio probe and chart
θ Administer nitrous oxide and oxygen
θ Classify patient's periodontal condition
θ Scale, polish, and apply fluoride
θ Periodontal soft tissue curettage
θ Root planing
θ Recommend perio consultation; refer out to specialists
θ Apply pit and fissure sealants
θ Polish and contour restorations
θ Polish appliances (partials, dentures, etc.)
θ Oral exfoliative cytology
θ Take impressions for diagnostic and opposing models
θ Apply non-aerosol and non-caustic topical agents
θ Remove post-extraction and periodontal dressings
θ Remove sutures and ligature ties
θ Take intra-oral measurements for orthodontic procedures
θ Check for loose bands
θ Place elastic separators
θ Test pulp
θ Remove cement excess from subgingival surfaces of tooth
θ Size stainless steel crowns, temporary crowns, and bands
θ Temporary cementation and removal of temporary crowns and orthodontic bands
