Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Experienced Dental Hygienist to join our team in our GORGEOUS Downtown Boston office. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in dental hygiene, with expertise in patient care, dental procedures, and infection control protocols. As an integral member of our practice, you will provide comprehensive dental hygiene services, educate patients on oral health, and support the overall efficiency of our dental operations. Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to promote optimal oral health.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while ensuring radiation safety protocols.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to enhance their understanding of dental health.
- Assist dentists during various procedures through chairside assisting, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records within electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Adhere strictly to infection prevention management protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures, to ensure patient safety.
- Manage dental equipment maintenance and ensure all tools are properly sanitized in compliance with healthcare infection prevention standards.
- Support the team by reviewing documentation for accuracy and assisting with medical coding for billing purposes when necessary.
- Uphold HIPAA compliance by maintaining patient confidentiality at all times while providing compassionate care.
Requirements
- Valid licensure as a Massachusetts Registered Dental Hygienist with current state certification or licensing requirements fulfilled.
- Proven experience working in a dental office
- Proficiency in using dental practice management software for documentation and scheduling.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental care.
- Experience with dental x-ray techniques and familiarity with medical imaging equipment used in dentistry.
- Excellent patient communication skills with the ability to educate diverse patient populations effectively.
- Knowledge of infection prevention management, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection control standards.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems, medical records management, and electronic health records documentation review.
- Commitment to HIPAA compliance management and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
