At Aligner Solutions, we specialize in high-quality, customized clear aligner production and digital orthodontic appliances. We combine modern digital dentistry workflows—including 3D printing and thermoforming—with precise hands-on finishing to produce reliable, comfortable products for our patients and partners. We are seeking a dependable, detail-focused Orthodontic Lab Technician to join our growing laboratory team in Midlothian.

Position Summary

The Orthodontic Lab Technician participates in the end-to-end manufacturing process of clear aligners. This hands-on role spans digital model prep, 3D printing, thermoforming/vacuum forming, fine precision trimming and buffing, quality inspection, and packaging.

No prior dental or lab experience is required! While candidates with a background in a dental or orthodontic lab are preferred, we will fully train the right person who brings a strong work ethic, great hand-eye coordination, and an eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities

Digital Setup & Design: Review dental scans and assist with digital clear aligner setup and staging using orthodontic CAD software (training provided).
3D Printing & Post-Processing: Prepare build plates, operate 3D printers, wash, cure, and post-process resin dental models according to laboratory specifications.
Thermoforming / Vacuum Forming: Operate vacuum suck-down / pressure-forming equipment to form aligner plastic sheets onto prepared dental models.
Trimming & Polishing: Precision-trim aligner margins around the gingival line using micro-motors, hand instruments, and buffing wheels to ensure a smooth, comfortable edge for patients.
Quality Control & Packaging: Inspect finished aligners for clarity, fit, smooth borders, and stage numbering; sanitize, sort, pouch, and package cases for clinical delivery.
Equipment & Lab Upkeep: Perform routine daily cleaning, calibration, and light maintenance on 3D printers, forming machines, and trimming stations; maintain an organized, sterile lab environment.

Qualifications & Requirements

Experience:
No experience necessary – we will train!
Preferred: Previous experience in a dental/orthodontic lab, dental assisting, manufacturing, assembly, crafts/jewelry making, or clear aligner fabrication.
Preferred: Familiarity with dental 3D printing (e.g., Formlabs, SprintRay) or thermoforming equipment, but not required.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Manual Dexterity: Excellent hand-eye coordination and steady hands for detailed trimming, polishing, and delicate handling of dental appliances.
Attention to Detail: Pride in producing top-tier, consistent quality work with smooth margins and accurate labeling.
Trainability & Reliability: Eagerness to learn new digital and manual techniques, follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work well within a collaborative team.
