Position Summary:

The Dental Insurance Coordinator is an essential member of our administrative team, responsible for verifying patient insurance, ensuring timely and accurate claims submission, and overseeing both insurance and patient accounts receivable. This role works closely with our Operations Manager and Treatment Coordinator and supports the front desk as needed.

The ideal candidate is detail-driven, efficient, and highly organized, with a strong background in dental insurance processes and a commitment to exceptional patient service.

Key Responsibilities:

Insurance Verification:

Verify insurance coverage, eligibility, and plan details for new and existing patients.
Communicate with insurance providers by phone and online portals.
Accurately enter and update insurance information in practice software.
Identify co-pays, deductibles, frequency limitations, and non-covered services.

Claims Processing & Follow-Up:

Submit insurance claims promptly and accurately.
Monitor aging claims reports and follow up to resolve outstanding claims.
Handle denials and underpayments, resubmitting claims or providing additional documentation when necessary.
Document all claim-related communications and resolutions.

Accounts Receivable Oversight:

Oversee both insurance and patient account balances.
Collaborate with the billing team to maintain financial accuracy.
Support patients with insurance-related questions and billing concerns.

Additional Administrative Duties:

Assist with patient check-in and check-out as needed.
Answer and direct incoming calls in a professional and friendly manner.
Serve as a backup support to the front desk team during busy periods.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; additional dental admin training preferred.
1–2 years of experience in dental insurance and claims follow-up strongly preferred.
Proficiency with dental terminology, CDT codes, and insurance protocols.
Experience with dental practice software (Dentrix or similar).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational habits.
Able to work independently and thrive in a team setting.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
