Dental Therapy Department Manager

RDH Preferred

Location: Waukesha, WI
Organization: Bridging Brighter Smiles, Inc.

Help Lead the Next Chapter of School-Based Dental Care

Bridging Brighter Smiles is seeking an experienced, highly organized Dental Therapy Department Manager to lead and support our growing dental therapy program.

This is a unique opportunity to help shape an expanding department focused on bringing restorative dental care directly to students throughout Wisconsin. As Bridging Brighter Smiles continues to expand beyond preventive services, the Dental Therapy Department Manager will play an integral role in coordinating care, supporting our Dental Therapist team, and ensuring students move efficiently from diagnosis to completed treatment.

We are seeking a dental professional—RDH preferred—who understands clinical dentistry, excels at organization and communication, and is comfortable managing the many moving pieces involved in a mobile, school-based dental program.

What You'll Do

As the Dental Therapy Department Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day coordination and operations of the Dental Therapy Department, including:

Manage and coordinate daily operations of the Dental Therapy Department.
Support Dental Therapist scheduling, school assignments, travel coordination, and treatment days.
Review treatment needs and help prioritize students requiring restorative care.
Coordinate with dentists, dental therapists, hygienists, school-based teams, and administrative staff to ensure continuity of care.
Track students from diagnosis and treatment planning through completion of restorative treatment.
Help coordinate appropriate follow-up care and outside referrals when treatment needs fall outside the Dental Therapist's scope of practice.
Monitor outstanding treatment and help prevent students from being lost to follow-up.
Develop and maintain efficient departmental workflows, protocols, and documentation processes.
Assist with the implementation and continued growth of dental therapy services throughout BBS school locations.
Monitor department productivity, treatment completion, scheduling needs, and overall performance.
Ensure departmental operations remain consistent with BBS policies and applicable clinical and regulatory requirements.
Train and support team members as the Dental Therapy Department continues to grow.
Identify challenges, troubleshoot issues, and develop practical solutions to improve department efficiency.
Communicate effectively with clinical teams, leadership, schools, and families when coordination is needed.
Provide clinical support when appropriate and within the individual's professional scope of practice.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is someone who can see both the clinical and operational sides of dentistry. You understand that successful patient care doesn't end with identifying treatment—it requires organization, follow-through, communication, and a team committed to getting that treatment completed.

Preferred Qualifications:

Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) with a current Wisconsin license preferred.
Strong understanding of dental terminology, treatment planning, restorative dentistry, radiographs, and clinical documentation.
Previous leadership, management, or dental office coordination experience preferred.
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to confidently lead, coach, and support clinical team members.
Experience developing workflows, improving processes, and maintaining accountability.
Comfortable working independently and making day-to-day operational decisions.
Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
Ability to collaborate effectively with dentists, dental therapists, hygienists, administrative staff, schools, and families.
Passion for increasing access to dental care for children and underserved communities.

Why Bridging Brighter Smiles?

At Bridging Brighter Smiles, we bring dental care directly to students in the place they already spend their day—their school.

Our program continues to grow and evolve, and dental therapy represents an exciting opportunity to bridge an important gap between identifying dental disease and getting children the restorative treatment they need.

This position offers the opportunity to do more than manage a department. You will help build it.

You'll have the opportunity to create processes, strengthen communication between clinical teams, improve access to restorative care, and help shape how dental therapy is incorporated into school-based dentistry throughout Wisconsin.

We offer:

Competitive compensation
Leadership and professional growth opportunities
A Monday–Friday, school-based work environment
A collaborative and mission-driven team
The opportunity to help develop and grow an expanding department
A position where your clinical knowledge and leadership skills can make a measurable difference

The Person We're Looking For

You're organized, confident, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership.

You enjoy creating structure where there are a lot of moving pieces. You can communicate effectively with clinical professionals while also understanding the operational side of getting patients scheduled, treated, and followed through to completion.

Most importantly, you understand that behind every treatment plan is a student who deserves access to the care they need.

If you're looking for an opportunity to combine dentistry, leadership, program development, and public health, we would love to hear from you.

Apply today and help Bridging Brighter Smiles continue expanding access to comprehensive dental care for students across Wisconsin.
