We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Dental Hygienist to play a pivotal role in establishing and leading our hygiene department.
Job Summary:
The Lead Dental Hygienist will be responsible for providing comprehensive dental hygiene services, leading and mentoring other hygienists and dental assistants, and contributing to the overall success of the practice. This role requires a strong clinical background, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Clinical Duties:
- Perform comprehensive dental hygiene procedures, including prophylaxis, periodontal maintenance, scaling and root planing, and fluoride treatments.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical and dental history reviews, oral cancer screenings, and periodontal charting.
- Take and develop digital radiographs.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques, preventative care, and treatment options.
- Apply dental sealants and other preventative agents.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
- Leadership and Management:
- Lead and mentor other dental hygienists and dental assistants, providing guidance and support.
- Manage the hygiene schedule and optimize patient flow.
- Oversee the maintenance and sterilization of dental hygiene equipment and instruments.
- Assist in the selection and procurement of dental hygiene supplies.
- Conduct regular team meetings and training sessions.
- Resolve patient and staff concerns effectively.
- Assist in the creation of protocols for infection control.
- Work with the dentist to implement new technologies and techniques.
- Patient Relations:
- Build and maintain strong patient relationships, ensuring a positive and comfortable experience.
- Address patient questions and concerns with empathy and professionalism.
- Promote the practice and its services to patients and the community.
- Compliance:
- Adhere to all OSHA, HIPAA, and state dental board regulations.
- Maintain current licensure and certifications.
- Stay up to date on current dental hygiene practices.
Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program.
- Current and valid dental hygiene license in Ohio.
- Current CPR certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical dental hygiene experience.
- Proven leadership and mentoring skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using dental software and digital radiography.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with periodontal therapy.
- Experience with intraoral cameras.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Dentrix.
- Experience with a startup dental practice.
