Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Orthodontic Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality orthodontic care to our patients, assisting the orthodontist during procedures, and ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow within the clinic. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, chairside assisting techniques, and familiarity with various dental software systems.

Responsibilities

Assist the orthodontist during patient examinations and procedures, ensuring effective four-handed dentistry practices.
Prepare and maintain the treatment area, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
Take and develop X-rays as needed, while adhering to safety standards and HIPAA regulations.
Utilize EMR systems such as Dentrix for patient documentation and scheduling.
Manage patient records, including medical documentation and coding, while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions.
Operate 3D scanners for orthodontic imaging as required.
Assist in pediatric dentistry procedures, demonstrating a friendly demeanor with young patients.

Qualifications

Previous experience in dental assisting or a related field is preferred, with specific experience in orthodontics being a plus.
Familiarity with dental software systems.
Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical imaging techniques is essential.
Ability to perform chairside assisting duties effectively while maintaining a calm environment for patients.
Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and team members.
