Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental practice. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care while assisting the dentist during various procedures. This position requires a blend of clinical expertise and interpersonal skills to ensure a comfortable experience for our patients, particularly in pediatric dentistry.
Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures
- Prepare and maintain the treatment area, ensuring adherence to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Manage patient records using EMR systems Open Dental, including medical documentation and coding.
- Conduct preliminary assessments, including taking vital signs and gathering medical history.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
- Operate dental equipment, including 3D scanners and medical imaging devices, as needed.
- Support the dental receptionist with scheduling appointments and managing patient flow within the clinic.
Experience
Candidates should possess a strong foundation in dental assisting with experience in both general dentistry and specialized fields such as prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatrics preferred. Familiarity with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control standards, and medical records management is essential. Experience with EMR systems like Epic is advantageous but not mandatory. A background in chairside assisting will be highly regarded.
