Duties
- Greet patients warmly and manage patient check-in and check-out processes with excellent phone etiquette and professionalism
- Schedule appointments efficiently using dental office management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance verification processes
- Assist dental providers during procedures by preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, and handing necessary supplies
- Maintain accurate patient records within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems like Meditech, Epic, or eClinicalWorks
- Review documentation for completeness and accuracy, including care plans, medical histories, and treatment notes
- Manage medical billing and collections using medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), ensuring proper documentation review for billing accuracy
- Handle multi-line phone systems, schedule follow-up appointments, and respond promptly to patient inquiries
- Support health information management by filing medical records securely in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Perform clerical tasks such as data entry, typing reports, maintaining filing systems, and updating patient information
Experience
- Prior clinic or dental office experience is highly preferred, with familiarity in dental terminology and medical administrative support
- Proven experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Meditech, Epic, Dentrix or Eaglesoft is essential
- Strong knowledge of medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), medical billing procedures, insurance verification processes, and Medicare guidelines
- Demonstrated ability to manage front desk operations including appointment scheduling, patient intake, and handling multi-line phone systems
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel) and health information management software
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Experience working in hospital or healthcare settings enhances your ability to navigate complex documentation review and care plans
- Exceptional customer service skills combined with strong organizational abilities ensure smooth clinic operations
