Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Expanded Functions Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and assisting the dental team in delivering high-quality services. This position requires a strong understanding of dental procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow.
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment according to established protocols.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as needed.
- Maintain accurate medical records and patient information within the clinic's systems.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
- Monitor vital signs as necessary during procedures.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the dental clinic.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience and an EFDA Dental Assisting certification
- Proficiency in using dental software systems such as Open Dental is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical imaging techniques is an advantage.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients and team members.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Certification in CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in dental assisting is a plus.
