Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of dental assistants to ensure smooth clinic operations and high-quality patient care.
- Perform chairside assisting during various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Manage medical documentation, including medical records, medical coding, and electronic health records (EMR systems) such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix.
- Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical history, and X-ray imaging while adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Educate patients on dental procedures, oral health maintenance, and post-treatment care using clear dental terminology.
- Oversee the use of advanced technology such as 3D scanners and digital imaging equipment to support diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
- Collaborate with the dental team to implement four-handed dentistry techniques for increased efficiency and comfort.
- Assist with administrative duties typically handled by a dental receptionist when needed, including scheduling appointments and managing patient flow.
- Maintain a safe clinical environment by adhering to infection control standards and ensuring all staff are trained in aseptic techniques.
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or equivalent certification required.
- Intraoral Scanner experience and training certification required.
- Proven experience in general dentistry with strong knowledge of dental assisting procedures, anatomy, and dental terminology.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical documentation and records.
- Experience working in pediatric dentistry preferred; knowledge of pediatrics is highly advantageous.
- Proficiency in taking X-rays, medical imaging, vital signs measurement, and understanding of medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
- Ability to operate advanced dental technology including 3D scanners and digital radiography equipment.
- Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and OSHA regulations related to dental clinics.
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient education and team collaboration.
