Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance coverage, and assist with patient intake and scheduling using dental practice management software such as Dentrix
- Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist dentists during procedures
- Manage multi-line phone systems, answer inquiries, and provide outstanding patient service with excellent phone etiquette and clerical skills
- Verify insurance benefits, process claims, and perform medical billing tasks
- Maintain accurate dental records, update health information management systems like Dentrix ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Handle administrative duties such as filing medical records, managing appointment calendars
- Support medical collection efforts by reviewing documentation, following up on unpaid claims, and assisting with insurance verification processes
Skills
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology
- Proficiency in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively in bilingual settings if applicable
- Demonstrated clerical experience including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and managing multi-line phone systems with professionalism
- Familiarity with insurance verification processes and medical billing practices related to Medicare and other health plans
- Ability to review documentation thoroughly while maintaining attention to detail in medical office management tasks
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; experience with dental office software like Dentrix is highly desirable
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards to safeguard patient information and ensure confidentiality
