Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic dental team. Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct initial patient assessments by reviewing medical and dental histories, taking vital signs, and documenting findings accurately in electronic medical records (EMR systems).
- Assist dentists during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable.
- Monitor and review medical records for accuracy, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality.
- Maintain a sterile environment by following strict infection control procedures and managing dental instruments appropriately.
- Support the dental team with administrative tasks such as documentation review, medical coding, and updating dental terminology in records.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for scheduling, documentation, and record management.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, dental terminology, infection control standards, and aseptic techniques.
- Experience in pediatric dentistry and general dentistry settings is highly desirable.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse age groups, especially pediatrics.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining professionalism and compassion.
- Familiarity with EMR systems, medical coding, and documentation review processes.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs assessment, and medical imaging procedures relevant to dental practice.
