Duties
- Assist the dentist during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, maintaining strict aseptic techniques and infection control protocols
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including digital imaging and 3D scans, adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
- Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate documentation of medical and dental histories, treatment plans, and medical coding
- Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient well-being throughout procedures in accordance with clinical guidelines
- Support front desk operations by functioning as a dental receptionist when needed, scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and verifying insurance information
- Maintain a clean and organized clinic environment while adhering to infection prevention standards and OSHA regulations
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or equivalent licensure in accordance with state requirements
- Proven experience in dental assisting within a general or pediatric dentistry setting; familiarity with pediatric dentistry is highly preferred
- Proficiency with dental software such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic EMR systems for managing medical documentation and records
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and medical terminology
- Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and medical imaging devices accurately and safely
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages and collaborate with the dental team
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times
