Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chairside assisting, dental terminology, and proficiency with various dental software systems (Opendental, Dexis, CBCT, and Itero). This role offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment providing exceptional patient care across general dentistry, oral surgery, implants, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and knowledge of complex procedures to support our clinicians effectively.

Monday-Thursday arriving before 8:45- seeing patients from 9- 6 pm (every other Thursday, 2 pm)

Duties

Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including restorative, oral surgery, implants, prosthodontic, endodontic, and pediatric treatments
Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control standards
Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging, including 3D scans when applicable
Record vital signs and medical history accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems (opendental)
Manage patient records, ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality of medical documentation
Provide chairside assistance using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and patient comfort
Educate patients on dental procedures, post-treatment care, and oral health maintenance
Maintain inventory of dental supplies and sterilize instruments according to infection control protocols
Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing patient flow as a dental receptionist, if needed
Ensure all procedures adhere to dental terminology standards and medical coding requirements for accurate documentation

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a general dentistry or specialty practice, such as general dentistry and implants.
Proficiency with EMR systems, including Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Epic or similar platforms. We use Opendental.
Knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA regulations, infection control protocols, aseptic technique, and anatomy relevant to dentistry
Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely and accurately; experience with 3D scanners is a plus
Familiarity with dental terminology, dental coding, and managing electronic medical records (EMRs)
Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively
Certification in radiography or relevant state licensing requirements is preferred, but not mandatory, for all locations
