Summary of Position:
As an Orthodontic Treatment Assistant at Harwell and Cook Orthodontics, you’ll be in a crucial role as the primary supporting person to our doctors and help create a comfortable, positive experience for every patient. You’ll assist our orthodontists chairside by taking X-rays, scans, and photos, helping with procedures, maintaining equipment and records, and educating patients while ensuring every visit is comfortable and positive.
Essential Job Function:
- Assist orthodontists during procedures and patient care.
- Take X-rays, intraoral scans, and patient photographs.
- Maintain accurate patient records and treatment progress.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene, elastic wear, and braces aftercare.
- Scan for retainers and appliances.
- Remove and replace wires, coil springs, and elastic bands.
- Ensure all instruments and equipment are cleaned and sterilized.
- Keep treatment areas organized, stocked, and ready
- Anticipate team needs and provide support where needed
- Travel to 7 satellite offices spanning from 5:30 am start time to 6:30 pm end time, with transportation provided in a Harwell & Cook van.
- Assist with packing/unpacking supplies for satellite office travel.
- Perform general maintenance duties related to clinical equipment.
- Uphold a friendly, professional, and welcoming environment for every patient.
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma - Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Age Requirement - Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
- Experience - Dental/Orthodontic experience, working knowledge of orthodontic terminology, and familiarity with Ortho2 Edge and Microsoft Office is preferred, but willing to train the right candidate.
- Certifications - Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) certification (or ability to obtain within the first year) and CPR Certification.
- Communication - Amongst your team, doctors, referrals, and to the community, while also having the ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Positive Attitude - Even in tough situations and conversations, holding a positive outlook.
- Self-Motivated - Finding ways to make the training poured into you is applied to your knowledge and outlook of the position.
- Strong Customer Service - Comfortable with conversation in all age ranges while doing it with a smile and confidence in an even and level tone.
- Multi-Tasking - Ability to pivot, switch gears, and complete different tasks simultaneously.
- Physical Agility - Be physically fit for tasks such as bending, lifting 15-30 lbs, manual dexterity in assisting, and walking/standing consecutively for 30 minutes as needed.
