General Dentist – Indian Health Service (WWKMHCC) – Sisseton, SD
Overview
Four Winds Staffing is seeking a mission-driven General Dentist to provide outpatient dental care at the Woodrow Wilson Keeble Memorial Healthcare Center (WWKMHCC) in Sisseton, South Dakota.
This position supports continuity of oral health services in a rural tribal community and works alongside federal and contractor dental staff to maintain safe, accurate, and effective care delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
· Diagnose, treat, and help prevent oral and related systemic health issues, including caries and periodontal disease.
· Obtain accurate medical histories and appropriate diagnostic information, including radiographic and laboratory information as needed.
· Administer local anesthetics and prescribe medications within scope, service unit policy, and antibiotic stewardship expectations.
· Provide a full range of dental services within the clinic scope, including direct restorative care, periodontal procedures, pedodontics, fixed and removable prosthodontics, endodontics, and exodontia.
· Manage medically compromised patients and coordinate consults and referrals with specialists and medical providers when indicated.
· Maintain timely, accurate documentation and coding in accordance with facility policy and accrediting standards.
· Follow all applicable hospital-wide and dental-specific policies, including HIPAA and patient rights requirements.
· Participate in committees, peer review, and performance evaluation activities as required by service unit bylaws.
Schedule and Work Environment
· Location: Woodrow Wilson Keeble Memorial Healthcare Center, 100 Lake Traverse Drive, Sisseton, SD 57262
· Setting: Outpatient dental clinic serving a rural reservation community.
· Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding federal holidays and government facility closures.
· Contract Type: Non-personal healthcare services contract supporting federal dental operations
Required Qualifications
· Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from an ADA- or CODA-accredited school, or another U.S. Department of Education-recognized accrediting body at the time the degree was obtained.
· Successful completion of the National Board Dental Examinations.
· Current, full, and unrestricted dental license in any U.S. state, territory, the District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico.
· Current, unrestricted DEA registration.
· At least one year of residency training and/or one year of professional dentist experience within the last 24 months.
· Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and ongoing continuing education/certification compliance.
· Ability to meet all WWKMHCC and Indian Health Service credentialing, privileging, licensure, immunization, and background investigation requirements.
Additional Requirements
· Ability to obtain and maintain favorable federal background investigations, including FBI fingerprint clearance and suitability adjudication.
· Must not appear on the HHS Office of Inspector General List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE) during contract performance.
· Professional conduct consistent with IHS and facility standards while respecting patient rights and cultural values.
Pay: $170.00 per hour
