Dental Hygienist – Indian Health Service (WWKMHCC) – Sisseton, SD
Overview
Four Winds Staffing is seeking an experienced Dental Hygienist to provide outpatient preventive and periodontal care at the Woodrow Wilson Keeble Memorial Healthcare Center (WWKMHCC) in Sisseton, South Dakota.
This position supports a rural tribal community and works alongside federal and contract dental staff to ensure continuous access to high-quality oral healthcare.
Key Responsibilities
· Perform the full range of periodontal therapy, including supra- and sub-gingival prophylaxis, periodontal maintenance, and scaling/root planing in accordance with clinic policies.
· Provide patient education on oral hygiene, nutrition, and oral cancer prevention, while supporting patient comfort and effective treatment strategies.
· Take appropriate dental radiographs, perform periodontal charting, and provide chairside exam assistance with dentists.
· Maintain patient records, scheduling support, and accurate documentation and coding in accordance with service unit policies and accrediting standards.
· Perform infection control duties, including instrument reprocessing, in accordance with applicable guidelines and service unit policies.
· Follow all hospital-wide and dental-specific policies, including HIPAA and other privacy and safety requirements.
· Participate in committees, quality improvement activities, and peer review/performance evaluation processes as required.
Schedule and Work Environment
· Location: Woodrow Wilson Keeble Memorial Healthcare Center, 100 Lake Traverse Drive, Sisseton, SD 57262.
· Setting: Outpatient dental clinic serving approximately 7,000 tribal members in a rural reservation area.
· Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding federal holidays and facility closures.
· Contract Type: Non-personal services contract supporting federal dental operations.
Required Qualifications
· Completion of an accredited dental hygiene program recognized by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
· Current, active, full, and unrestricted dental hygiene license in any U.S. state, territory, the District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico.
· Minimum of three years of experience as a Dental Hygienist.
· Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
· Ability to meet all WWKMHCC and Indian Health Service credentialing, privileging, licensure, immunization, and background investigation requirements.
Additional Requirements
· Ability to obtain and maintain favorable federal background investigations, including FBI National Criminal History Check and suitability adjudication.
· Must not appear on the HHS Office of Inspector General List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE) during contract performance.
· Strict adherence to HIPAA and facility policies related to privacy, security, key control, and IT systems.
Pay: Up to $80.00 per hour
