Job Title: Dental/Orthodontic Laboratory Technician

OVERVIEW
The Dental/Ortho Laboratory Technician is responsible for the hands-on fabrication, assembly, finishing, and production of custom orthodontic and oral appliances. This position performs a variety of laboratory production processes involving orthodontic materials, appliance components, hand tools, and laboratory equipment.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced, production-focused role requiring a strong sense of urgency, manual dexterity, attention to detail, and the ability to consistently move assigned work through established production processes while meeting quality standards and due dates. The AIC Technician is expected to develop proficiency across assigned laboratory processes and independently perform those processes following appropriate training.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Fabricates orthodontic and dental appliances according to prescriptions, specifications, work instructions, and established laboratory procedures.
· Performs various appliance fabrication and assembly processes using wire, acrylic, plaster, wax, and other orthodontic laboratory materials.
· Assists with the fabrication, bending, shaping, positioning, and integration of orthodontic wire and appliance components as assigned.
· Reviews prescriptions (Rx), case specifications, and work instructions to determine required appliance components and fabrication requirements.
· Utilizes laboratory equipment including handpieces, lathes, pliers, trimming equipment, polishing equipment, and other hand tools.
· Performs appliance finishing and post-processing, including trimming, grinding, pumicing, polishing, adjustment, and final preparation.
· Inspects work for proper form, positioning, finish, and conformance to established quality standards.
· Identifies fabrication, component, or case issues and escalates discrepancies before the appliance advances to the next stage of production.
· Completes required case documentation, records, tasks, and production logs within the lab management system.
· Proactively manages assigned daily production workload and consistently meets established quality, productivity, and due-date expectations.
· Collaborates with other technicians to maintain appliance quality and production throughput.
· Assists with research and development projects and other company initiatives as needed.
· Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE
· High school diploma or GED.
· Previous orthodontic, dental laboratory, manufacturing, or precision fabrication experience preferred, but not required.
· Demonstrated aptitude for detailed, repetitive, hands-on work.
· Ability and willingness to learn orthodontic appliance fabrication processes and laboratory techniques.
· Ability to independently execute assigned fabrication processes following appropriate training.
· Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Good manual dexterity and ability to perform fine, repetitive hand and finger movements.
- Frequent gripping, bending, manipulating, and assembling of small components using hand tools.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.
- Ability to safely work with laboratory materials and chemical compounds, including adhesives, acrylics, plasters, and related materials.
- Ability to lift and store materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
