Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Business Office Assistant to support the administrative functions of our dental practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong medical office experience, excellent organizational skills, and familiarity with medical coding and billing procedures. This role involves managing patient records, processing insurance claims, and ensuring smooth office operations to enhance overall efficiency.

Duties

Assist with patient registration, appointment scheduling, and maintaining accurate medical records.
Handle medical/dental billing processes, including coding using DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes.
Verify insurance coverage and submit claims efficiently while following up on outstanding payments.
Prior working knowledge of dental terminology
Manage electronic health record (EHR) and electronic medical record (EMR) systems to ensure data accuracy and confidentiality.
Support collection efforts related to outstanding medical accounts through appropriate follow-up procedures.
Maintain knowledge of medical/dental terminology, billing regulations, and coding updates to ensure compliance.
Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure proper documentation of medical records and coding accuracy.
Perform general administrative duties such as filing, data entry, and correspondence management.

Experience

Prior experience working in a medical/dental office environment or healthcare setting is required.
Proficiency in medical coding including DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and familiarity with medical billing processes.
Experience using EMR/EHR systems for documentation and billing purposes.
Strong understanding of medical/dental terminology and medical/dental records management.
Demonstrated ability to handle medical/dental collections efficiently while maintaining professionalism.
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and data entry.
