ESSENTIAL DUTIES
A. Assists faculty to assess lab curriculum for each program course.
B. Supports program faculty to plan a comprehensive curriculum for each course. This includes the development of purpose, objectives, outcomes, and learning activities.
C. Supports the implementation of the curriculum in conjunction with faculty, using a variety equipment and supplies, and computer based instruction tools and programs.
D. Collaboratively works with faculty to ensure students’ achievement of learning outcomes through evaluation of competencies and skill assessment tests, reflecting the curriculum.
E. Works with dental assistant program faculty to ensure the availability of properly functioning equipment and supplies.
F. Assists faculty to set up supplies and equipment for each skill.
G. Assesses all equipment to ensure proper maintenance and function in relation to manufacturer recommendation.
H. Maintains labs in a clean and orderly fashion.
I. Participates in division and college wide committees and activities as appropriate.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Certification as a Dental Assistant required. Previous experience managing dental laboratories for dental practice preferred. Experience teaching Dental Assisting courses preferred.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Excellent organization and management skills. Ability to work with clinical simulation and clinical technology. Knowledge of diagnostic and patient care supplies and equipment. Knowledge of the Internet, Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to establish good working relationships with staff, students, and the community. Able to organize and prioritize work, make decisions independently, and attend to details
