Dental Lab Technician – Same-Visit Crowns and Orthodontic Fabrications

Overview:
East Coast Dental Design is seeking a skilled Dental Lab Technician to join our advanced dental practice. The ideal candidate will specialize in fabricating same-visit crowns using the Dentsply CEREC system (MCXL) and crafting in-house orthodontic appliances. This role demands technical precision, expertise in digital dentistry, and a commitment to delivering high-quality restorations and appliances in a fast-paced environment.
Depending on your experience, we can implement other restorations to be fabricated inhouse, ie Digital Dentures, All-on-X, etc.
General Requirements:
- Windows 11
- File management in cloud computing - Dropbox, iCloud, MyItero, MyMedit
- DICOM file exports from DTX Clinic
- CEREC design software, CEREC CAM software
- ExoCAD is a plus
- Digital photography as well as photo editing (cropping) a plus
Digital Dentistry:
- Design and mill crowns, inlays, onlays, and veneers using the Dentsply CEREC system, including CAD/CAM software and milling units.
- Interpret digital scans and collaborate with dentists to ensure accurate restoration designs.
- Select and prepare appropriate ceramic blocks, ensuring shade matching for optimal aesthetics.
- Knowledge of Ivoclar and MiYo staining.
- Perform finishing, polishing, and quality control checks on CEREC restorations to meet clinical standards.
- Maintain and troubleshoot CEREC equipment to ensure consistent performance.
- Experience with zirconia and implant restorations a plus
In-House Orthodontic Fabrications:
- Fabricate orthodontic appliances such as retainers, aligners, space maintainers, or night guards using in-house techniques (e.g., 3D printing, vacuum forming, or traditional methods).
- Process intraoral scans or physical impressions to create precise orthodontic models and appliances.
- Manage materials and inventory for orthodontic fabrication processes.
Lab Operations and Maintenance:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant lab environment, adhering to OSHA, HIPAA, and CDC guidelines.
- Calibrate and maintain digital and manual lab equipment, including scanners, printers, and milling machines.
- Track and order lab supplies, ensuring availability of CEREC and orthodontic materials.
Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with dentists and dental assistants to streamline workflows for same-day restorations and orthodontic appliances.
- Provide technical input on material selection and fabrication techniques to optimize outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Certified Dental Technician (CDT) or equivalent training in dental laboratory technology.
- Experience with CAD/CAM systems like Dentsply CEREC, FormLabs (or similar) Printers
- Knowledge of dental materials (e.g., ceramics, resins) and restorative techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity for precision work.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced setting.
