Duties
- Greet patients warmly and assist with check-in and check-out procedures using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Meditech
- Schedule appointments accurately utilizing dental office management software and coordinate patient flow efficiently
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance claims processing using systems like Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks
- Manage patient records meticulously, ensuring proper documentation review for accuracy and completeness in compliance with HIPAA standards
- Handle multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, answer inquiries promptly, and direct calls appropriately
- Collect payments, process medical collections, and perform billing tasks related to dental procedures using CPT coding and ICD-10/ICD-9 codes
- Maintain organized filing systems for medical records, dental charts, and administrative documents while ensuring confidentiality
- Support clinic operations by assisting with intake procedures, updating care plans, and managing appointment reminders
Requirements
- Proven experience in a dental office or medical administrative support role with strong knowledge of dental terminology and medical billing practices
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Meditech, or Epic; familiarity with Meditech or Athenahealth is highly desirable
- Knowledge of insurance verification processes including Medicare and Medicaid guidelines
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security
- Experience with medical coding including CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding for billing purposes
- Excellent customer service skills coupled with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Bilingual skills are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing proficiency (10 key typing)
- Previous clinic or dental office experience is preferred; familiarity with dental terminology and office management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly valued
