Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Orthodontic Assistant to join our growing orthodontic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care while assisting the orthodontist during procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, chairside assisting, and exceptional attention to detail while creating a fun and comfortable environment for patients and their family. A commitment to maintaining high standards of infection control and patient confidentiality is essential.

Duties

Assist the orthodontist during patient examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow.
Prepare and maintain the treatment area, including sterilization of instruments and equipment.
Perform X-rays and other medical imaging as required, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Monitor vital signs and assist in managing patient comfort throughout their visit.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in accordance with clinic policies.
Collaborate with the orthodontic team to ensure effective communication and patient management.
Stay updated on advancements in orthodontic technology, including 3D scanners.

Qualifications

Previous experience as an orthodontic assistant or similar environment is preferred, particularly in pediatric dentistry or general dentistry.
Proficiency in four-handed dentistry techniques and aseptic techniques is highly desirable.
Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and medical documentation practices.
Familiarity with medical coding and records management is a plus.
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, especially children.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
