As an Authorization Coordinator, you bridge the gap between diagnosis and treatment. You manage the end-to-end referral process, securing approvals for external specialists and advanced imaging (CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine) while ensuring all medical documentation meets insurance standards.

You aren't just a coordinator; you are a facilitator of care. By managing high-volume communications and tracking operational data within the EMR, you ensure patients get to the right clinic without delay, seamlessly integrating services across hospital departments.

Position Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 – 5:00 pm (Remote)

What You’ll Do:

Assess needs for insurance company authorization of referrals and obtain such authorization when indicated.
Collect Medical Clinics documentation necessary for referral provision and submit such documentation to applicable providers.
Provide follow-up to ensure that every referred patient is scheduled appropriately.
Provide follow-up to ensure that documentation about every given referral patient appointment is forwarded to the Medical Clinic where referral was initially requested.
Compile referral statistics and report such statistics as directed by Medical Clinics Operations Manager.
Process all Hospital Medical Clinics requests for patient referral to external providers.
Process all Medical Clinics requests for patient referral to advanced diagnostic imaging services, including computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and nuclear medicine imaging.
Appropriately answer, transfer, and document internal and external telephone calls, providing information and feedback to Medical Clinics Department Staff and Medical Staff.
Participate in Department Performance Improvement activity as directed by Medical Clinics Director.
Coordinate service provision with that of Medical Clinics and Hospital Departments.
Adeptly use electronic medical record and patient management system.

What You’ll Need:

Knowledge of principles that relate to the position, including medical terminology, Current Procedural Technology coding, and coding used in the ninth revision of the International Classification of Diseases.
Aptitude in verbal and written communication, including ability to communicate with persons in all age groups.
Possession of a high school diploma and (optimally) at least some college education completion of a postsecondary medical assisting training program at an accredited school, preferred.
At least one year of experience in a medical clinic and referrals/authorizations.
Possession of United States proof of citizenship or right to work in the United States.
Possession of a driver license or analogous identification.
Willingness to participate in Hospital orientation and educational in-service.
Must reside in Oregon.
